This was an assignment from first year, in which we had to take a narrative and adapt it into one media for into another.
I chose to adapt the film Labyrinth into a one act stage musical.
There was three parts to this assignment which are all below.
In Part One, I had to define the original medium of the narrative and the one in which I wanted to transform it into, and outline the perks and restrictions involved with each.
For Part Two, I had to make a mood board of the adapted narrative.
I still wanted to have s similar colour scheme and atmosphere to the original film, but I also wanted to show the theatrical ways that it can be presented, with the puppets from War Horse and The Grinning Man.
For Part Three, I had to tell the new story in its new medium, and to also outline how the new medium changes the way the story is told.
This was very interesting to do, as Labyrinth is a film I know well and love, but trying to adapt it into a stage production really did edit aspects of the story and how it was told.
