We are living in an ever increasing digital age, with all aspects of life being pervaded by computers, social media, and artificial intelligence. These changes are amazing! I mean - I've the same amount or more power in my smartphone than that was used to land Neil Armstrong on the moon!
But: traditional and 'old fashioned' forms of art and media are still necessary, and important, and needed. The medium completely changes the meaning of the piece. Think about watching a film in the cinema verse at home - they're a totally different experience. Same as reading a book, in its physical form or on a Kindle. Print is an invaluable form of media and art. It allows for such a different process and experience, for both the artist and the viewer.
For this piece, I wanted to try an emphasis how print and the tactile in life is still necessary and needed, and how life becoming more digital and online might not be beneficial - from making art, listening to music, writing and learning. I also wanted to show to long history of print media and how far we have come. With the first letter being the Chi Rho page from the Book of Kells, to the Microsoft Word Document in the bottom row.

The E appears more sterile and cold, while the main A, and the ones behind it all have more movement and personality to them. You can feel more from the scribbled A than the typed E.

This last D is to represent how printed and more physical forms of media and art are slowly becoming obsolete and deemed unsustainable and not as convent. The fading of the D is to represent this decent into the death of print.
